The Cave and Mount Thawr in Mecca have a great historical status because they are linked to an important event in the biography of the Prophet, peace and blessings of God be upon him. It is the place where he, peace and blessings of God be upon him, took refuge during the Prophet’s migration. In the Cave of Thawr, the Prophet, peace and blessings of God be upon him, and his companion Abu Bakr, may God be pleased with him, stayed for three nights.
Mount Thawr is located southeast of Mecca, south of the Grand Mosque, and is approximately 4 km away from it. Thawr Cave is a hollow rock at the top of the mountain (slightly below its summit). It has two openings, one from the east and the other from the west, and it is the one through which the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, and his companion Abu Bakr, may Allah be pleased with him, entered. God bless him.
Based on this historical importance of this historical place; Work has begun to establish the Jabal Thawr Cultural District to be a cultural project and a tourist destination that tells the story of the place, capitalizes on its contributions, and enriches the visitor’s experience.
The project is located on an area of more than 127 thousand square meters, and the project contains many cultural and tourism components that attract residents and visitors, including pilgrims and Umrah performers.
The project contains several components, the most important of which are: a visitor reception center and the Prophet’s Migration exhibition, which tells the story of the migration of the Prophet, peace and blessings of God be upon him, in a museum display style and using the latest technologies.
