Prophets and Messengers: Guides of Humanity
Prophets and messengers are the best of Allah’s creation, chosen by Him to guide humanity and direct them to the path of truth and justice. Allah Almighty sent a messenger to every nation calling them to worship Allah alone.
Difference Between Prophet and Messenger
Prophet
One who receives divine revelation but is not commanded to convey it to people.
Messenger
One who receives divine revelation and is commanded to convey it to people.
The Resolute Messengers
Allah Almighty mentioned in the Holy Quran five messengers who were distinguished by patience and determination:
1. Noah (peace be upon him)
The first messenger sent by Allah Almighty to the people of earth after Adam (peace be upon him).
2. Abraham (peace be upon him)
Father of the prophets, whom Allah Almighty tested with numerous trials.
3. Moses (peace be upon him)
The one who spoke with Allah, sent by Allah Almighty to Pharaoh and his people.
4. Jesus (peace be upon him)
Spirit of Allah and His word, sent by Allah Almighty to the Children of Israel.
5. Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him)
The seal of the prophets and messengers, sent by Allah Almighty as a mercy to all worlds.
Characteristics of Prophets and Messengers
1. Truthfulness
All prophets and messengers are truthful in their words and actions.
2. Trustworthiness
They do not betray in conveying the message or in preserving trust.
3. Intelligence
They possess high intelligence and wisdom in dealing with people.
4. Infallibility
They are protected from major and minor sins in conveying the message.
Mission of the Prophets
1. Call to Monotheism
All prophets called to worship Allah alone without partners.
2. Establishing Justice
They called for establishing justice among people.
3. Enjoining Good and Forbidding Evil
They commanded good and forbade evil.
4. Glad Tidings and Warnings
They gave glad tidings of Paradise to believers and warned disbelievers of Hell.
